Featured Artist

Most of our children *really* enjoy crayons and markers and paper. We keep a large stack of coloring books on hand, as well as blank paper, and, well, we go through crayons quickly. You see, the babies like them too, just not for coloring. There is something they find extremely satisfying in the feel of a crayon snapping in their fingers, and once they're broken, they're *so* much harder to keep up with. I haven't figured out why yet, but it is a definite fact.

Making Medicine

(my apologies about the pictures in this post... I can't rotate them without more bother than I want to go to. If you'd like to see the same post with the pictures correct, you can do that at our other blog)
Today, we finally got around to doing one of those things I've been meaning to do. We made some salve for owies and diaper rash!
We used: wild plantains, lavender oil, and lobelia extract in a base of coconut oil. Say-Jal eagerly volunteered to be the plantain harvester, as well as wash and dry the leaves.

Sluuuuurrrrp!!!

Say-Jal brought home a Wendy's Frosty from her date with Papa a few nights ago, and just automatically went for the silly straws so that the others wouldn't get her cold sore. No one asked her to share... She's just sweet that way. I think that's part of the attraction for a date: bringing home a treat for the others!

Hello Kitty!

Well, here we are in the midst of the Evenson Tribe's Birthday Bonanza! We have a little flurry of birthdays in our family this time of year, and Say-Jal is next up. Believe it or not, our tiny little Tootsie is turning 6! She has quite the extensive list of things she'd like for her birthday, and it grows each time we go shopping. I will confess, I have totally lost track of all the things she has held up in the various Targets, Walmarts, and other places with her little pleading smile... But there have been a few that I either wrote down or took a snapshot of....
