Passing on a Note from a Friend

To our dear family and friends,

We are writing this letter with great joy to share with you our exciting news, our hopes and plans for our future, and to let you know what God has been doing in our lives and laying on our hearts. :)

Over the past (almost 2, can you believe it?) years that we've been married (and really even years before) we have felt God continually putting adoption heavily on our hearts. We have asked Him to take this desire away if it's not from Him, and each time it has only grown stronger. There are an estimated 148 MILLION orphans in the world today, and that realization has been overwhelming to us. God has brought this verse in James to our minds many times."Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." (James 1:27)

For the past almost two years we have spent a lot of time praying, reading, researching, saving, educating ourselves on the different types of adoption, and talking to people who have adopted. At first we started by looking into International Adoption, but it soon became clear that this door is closed to us right now since the process is more expensive, complicated, and we do not yet meet the age requirements. This was very discouraging at first, but then we turnedour attention to Domestic Adoption and soon realized that there areso many children that need loving homes right here in this country.
